The Tamindžija family has been engaged in beekeeping since 1880 and takes great pride in preserving a family tradition that has been passed down through generations. They live in the village of Bežđeđe near Nevesinje, where the bees benefit from rich and high-quality natural forage. Their apiary is migratory, following different flowering periods and pastures throughout the season. The first bee pasture, from March to May, is in Ljuti Do near Berkovići, at approximately 350 metres above sea level. In May and June, the hives are moved to Žiljevo, where the bees forage on abundant mountain meadows. The final pasture of the season takes place in Bežđeđe, at around 1,000 metres above sea level, where the bees forage on heather and iva grass. The family’s main products include meadow honey, comb honey, beeswax and propolis, all reflecting the diverse flora and pristine landscapes of East Herzegovina. The owner of the apiary, Branimir Tamindžija, is also the President of the Multiple Sclerosis Association of East Herzegovina. For more than two decades, he has been actively advocating for the rights of people living with multiple sclerosis, making his work and commitment to the local community extend far beyond beekeeping.
