Agro-tourism in Trebinje: what is on offer, institutions and contacts

Published: 6 October 2026Updated: 8 October 2026Author: AgroTour Connect team
In brief

Agro-tourism in Trebinje rests mostly on wine cellars and excursions combining lunch and tasting. Tourism falls under the City's Department for Tourism, Environmental Protection and Entrepreneurship, farming under the Department for Family and Village Development, and promotion is run by the Trebinje Tourist Organization.

This overview is for households, producers, winemakers and hospitality businesses in Trebinje who want to join the city's tourism offer and need to know whom to contact at the City Administration and the Tourist Organization.

In short

  • Trebinje has an established wine offer: the Tourist Organization's portal lists 12 wine cellars and tasting rooms, from 850 m to 40 km from the centre.
  • The Tourist Organization offers a half-day and a full-day excursion. The full-day one includes lunch at a local restaurant, a tasting at a wine cellar of your choice and, if the guest wishes, a visit to one of the monasteries.
  • The City Administration has ten departments. Two matter to you: tourism and agriculture.
  • To book licensed guides, contact the Tourist Organization, which works with local guides.

What Trebinje offers visitors

  • Wine. Records of Herzegovinian wines date from the Middle Ages. The first gold medals at international wine exhibitions were awarded in 1898 and 1900 in Vienna, 1901 in Paris and 1903 in London. The portal lists, among others, the Tvrdoš Monastery cellars, Vinarija Dabić, Vinarija Đordan, Vinska galerija Vukoje, and the cellars Aćimović, Anđelić, Berak, Bojanić, Marić, Petijević, Popovac and Sekulović.
  • Excursions. The half-day programme covers Crkvina (the Herzegovina Gračanica complex), the 16th-century Perović (Arslanagić) bridge, a walk through the town centre, the Old Town and the Museum of Herzegovina. The full-day programme adds lunch and a tasting at a wine cellar, plus, if guests wish, a visit to the Tvrdoš, Duži or Petropavlov monastery. The programme can be adapted to guests' wishes.
  • Active options mentioned by the Tourist Organization alongside the excursions: paragliding, hiking, caving, kayaking, diving and bird watching. They can be arranged within excursions for smaller groups.
  • Religious tourism. In summer 2025 the "Path of Saint Basil" pilgrimage-tourist tours were launched (Mrkonjići, Zavala and Tvrdoš monasteries).

What to do

  1. Check whether your cellar, guesthouse or restaurant is already on gotrebinje.com. We could not confirm how listing on the portal works, so call the Tourist Organization on +387 59 273 410 and ask how to be added.
  2. For hospitality, entrepreneurship and tourist tax questions, contact the Department for Tourism, Environmental Protection and Entrepreneurship.
  3. For agricultural incentives, agricultural land leases and rural development, contact the Department for Family and Village Development. It works with the City's Agrarian Fund (Agrarni fond Grada Trebinja) on agricultural land leases.
  4. Follow the Tourist Organization's public calls on gotrebinje.com. As an example, in February 2026 it published a public call for tourism awards (24 February). That call is probably already closed, so read the conditions and deadlines in each new call.
