The Aškrabić family from Dramešina is one of those families whose way of life preserves the spirit and heritage of Herzegovina’s villages. Located at an altitude of approximately 1,200 metres, just twelve kilometres from Gacko, Dramešina is now a peaceful village that comes to life from spring until late autumn. For the Aškrabić family, however, it has never been just a place. It is their roots, their ancestral home, and a legacy they are determined to preserve. Beekeeping holds a special place in their lives. Blagota and his family have been keeping bees for thirty years. Surrounded by pristine mountain landscapes, they care for more than 140 bee colonies, enjoying an abundance of wildflowers, pollen, fresh water, sunshine, and pure mountain air. The exceptional quality of their honey has been recognised with numerous medals and awards. Around their family home, apple, pear, and plum trees bear fruit, while their vegetable garden provides fresh produce that goes straight from their own land to the family table. Here, what matters most is cherished and preserved: homemade, natural food, produced with care and by their own hands. The Aškrabić family also passes their love for Dramešina on to their children, who eagerly return to their ancestral home and maintain a strong connection with their roots. Anyone visiting Dramešina discovers much more than a quiet mountain village. They are welcomed into a family home where hospitality comes naturally, doors are always open, and nature is an inseparable part of everyday life. Dramešina is, above all, a story of bees, fruit trees, fertile land, homemade food, and people who understand that no matter where life takes you, you should never forget your roots.
